It's great to have a website dedicated to important communications and everything you need to know about the ski school. It helps both instructors and clients navigate the ski school, both organizationally and in terms of reliability and professionalism.

The only downside, in my opinion, is the complex design of the menu interface, which isn't particularly intuitive, although this is a problem that resolves itself with consistent use of the website.

We had a wonderful experience with both our children (9 and 5); the school (and particularly Prem) is responsive, organised and flexible when required. We have found every teacher to be very kind and friendly which has made the whole difference!

Top! I've been using them for over two years, and the results are incredible. At 40, and afraid to let go of my board, it was a real challenge for me. But Nicola is the best! Technique, talent, and kindness: he helped me push my limits. If you want real results, trust him and Giorgio Rocca's school! And Veronica is second to none for all the office management: always available and smiling. I adore you!

Marco is the man! To say my friend and I had an extraordinary time would be an understatement! He is incredibly skilled and patient - and also kept me relaxed.

We had the best time today and want to come back to take lessons again. So happy with this experience, thanks to Marco! He came highly recommended and lived up to his reputation for being the best.

Skip the Shuffling,
Learn to Glide

Most beginners treat cross-country skiing like walking on snow, which results in sore hip flexors and minimal forward movement. We guide you out of the shuffling habit immediately, showing you how to transfer your body weight fully onto one ski to let the wax or scales do the work for you.

“The entire trick to beginner stability is learning how to stack your hips directly over your feet. Once that clicks, the fear of falling disappears.”

First-Day Fundamentals

  • Equipment overview: How lightweight boots and bindings operate
  • The Snowplow: How to create friction to slow down and stop cleanly
  • Diagonal Stride: Coordinating arm swings and foot kicks smoothly
  • Poling placement: Driving backward from your core instead of pulling
  • Track Etiquette: Knowing how to step out, pass, and read trail markers
  • Falling and rising safely without straining joints in the deep snow

Your First Nordic Steps

Hour 1: Balance & Friction

We start completely out of the tracks on flat snow. You’ll get comfortable stepping sideways, getting a feel for the ski flex, and practicing braking mechanics so you always feel in control of your speed.

Hour 2: Entry to the Tracks

Once you can stop on demand, we step into the pre-cut classic corduroy tracks. Here, you learn how to lean into the glide phase and time your arms to keep continuous forward momentum going.

Hour 3: Gentle Loops

We take your new coordination onto an easy, scenic beginner circuit. Your instructor stays beside you to manage your pacing, guide you through soft corners, and ensure your legs stay fresh.

Patient, Stress-Free Pacing

Our instructors specialize in teaching adult beginners. We don’t drag you onto difficult terrain or rush through technical jargon. Everything is explained in plain terms, using gentle feedback and frequent breaks to keep the lesson energetic, encouraging, and physically rewarding.

The Flat Lake Trails of the Engadin

St. Moritz has the ultimate geographical advantage for beginners: miles of completely flat, perfectly ironed tracks crossing the valley lakes. This means you can practice your body position and pole work for kilometers at a time without having to worry about unexpected drops or steep hills.

A Safe Track to
Nordic Fitness

Private beginner instruction gives you a direct safety net. Your coach is close by on every loop, adjusting your foot pressure and hip placement on the fly so you avoid muscle strain and learn to move with total mechanical efficiency.

These beginner lessons are for you if you:

  • Have never clicked into a pair of cross-country skis before
  • Want to learn how to slow down and stop safely on narrow skis
  • Want to explore winter scenery without the vertical drops of downhill slopes
  • Prefer a dedicated, private instructor to build your confidence step by step
  • Want a smooth, low-impact full-body workout that avoids joint shock

Your Journey Starts Here

Learning cross-country skiing opens up a completely peaceful way to experience winter. Our focused beginner training strips away the awkward slipping and struggling phase, converting your first miles into an organized, satisfying progression. Let us help you find your rhythm on the pristine tracks of St. Moritz.
